The dark side

1 min read
(I'm anticipating some turbulence, so I leave a little post here) Art - or method - answers the question 'how?'. The more important question is implicit - ''what?''. You cannot be an artist without answering that question. Further away, you will also want to answer the ''why?''. What? is answered by ''life''. Your drawing will fall into one of these categories - dragon scales, dragon blood or dragon breath; it's all about movement. Draw vitality because that is what people seek. So what's this about the dark side? For starters, being and artist can give life to good or bad - the choice is yours. You will often get calls for doing the dark jobs, but keep in mind you CAN reject them. And then, vitality is not only found outside - going inside is a way to deal with your inner demons and then you become ''invincible''. Trust yourself, trust only yourself.

Started watching 3 accounts of people using AI to create stuff. Well, started and ended. I was interested in seeing what value they'd have and...they're passable. It's not art, and there are so many things missing from those computer-generated images. Whenever you draw, there are mistakes you cover, little things you add that either are not visible or seem to be 'placed' awkwardly, things you do that go against the grain, things you do because you're in a certain mood today. All that is missing, so much that those galleries are simply plain wallpaper galleries. But they're passable inasmuch there's an idea behind them, and that's what most people need for their imagination engine to start. The idea could be 'young schoolgirl with umbrella with dog on a rainy day, street, waiting for the bus'. I'm pretty sure that's how our brain operates as well. We identify what we see and only then we 'add' what we'd like to be in that space/image. Often it's ourselves. Two of the 3 people I watched

Can we stop using bots around here?? I've just had two messaging me about how great (and cute😨) my artwork is. And I don't draw. They're not helping. If anything, it makes me feel like I'm in a dying MMORPG.

:Dthanks for the watch and fave dear friend :happybounce:

Thanks for the favs :)

Saw a lot of work behind your drawing. I have to say, you have more details into your watercolor than most sketchers put in, although it doesn't feel heavy/too much detail. That's hard to do.

I was debating with myself what you prefer using for sketching between pen and pencil, but I guess it doesn't ultimately matter. I think you'll focus on the quality of brush strokes from now on, have fun with that!

Out sketching I prefer pen and ink, with watercolour washes after. At home I use pencil or watercolour soluble pencils, as the result will be more 'finished'.

Thanks for the watch!

I had to.

Saw one portrait of your in the recommended feed and thought it's a black and white photo...then I said 'nah, it's digital...or...could it be...?'.

I'm always amazed by the realism brought by pencils, be they colored or not.

And you're on point with those drawings, great job!
